This clinic is for horse lovers who prioritise the well-being of their horses.
We’ll focus on one horse at a time in the arena. Through discussion and observation, we’ll explore the root cause of each horse’s behaviour and create a path forward tailored to the unique combination of horse and human.
Horses, much like people, act based on emotions—and those emotions arise from intrinsic needs being either met or unmet.
When needs are met, we experience emotions we enjoy, which typically lead to desirable behaviour. When needs go unmet, we experience uncomfortable emotions which, if left unaddressed, often result in unwanted behaviour.
Identifying those unwanted emotions and uncovering the unmet need behind them is challenging enough when we reflect on ourselves. Doing this for a creature without verbal language is even more complex.
While horses, like humans, share the same core needs, each is a unique individual with their own priorities. The better we know our horses, the more skilled we become at recognising their emotions and understanding what they need—but first, we have to know what we're actually looking for.
Uncovering a horse's unmet needs doesn't mean letting them “get away with it.” It means addressing the root cause of the behaviour, paving the way for meaningful, lasting change—something both horse and human can benefit from.
In this clinic, we’ll examine each horse through the lens of emotions and needs, working together to uncover the true source of their behaviour. This approach will help both the owner and me create a tailored plan to meet the needs of both horse and human—and solve behaviour challenges at the root.
Suitable for all levels, as we’ll work with the specific needs of each individual horse and the goals of their person.
Whether you're dealing with an unwanted behaviour, wanting to deepen your bond, or looking to develop a new skill—this is the place for you.
Here’s what Kingi wrote about attending my last clinic:
"I was hesitant to attend with my horse as I felt it would be very pressured – oh how I was wrong – I let my horse down from experiencing a joyful way to interact, meet and socialise with other horses and connect with horsey people.
This clinic is for those who want a meaningful partnership with their horse by understanding your needs, the needs of the horse and listening to them. Giving clear signals helps the horse immensely in understanding leadership, connectedness, trust and quality time.
Thank you Tamar!"
