Looking to the Skies: Ancient and Modern Astronomers

Join us at Jemez Historic Site in Jemez Springs, New Mexico, on Sat., Sept. 20, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. for a daytime astronomy program. We will share activities related to different ways people in the ancient past viewed the sky in the daytime and at night.

Jim Greenhouse, from the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science in Albuquerque, will share images and discuss details of the NASA PUNCH (Polarimeter to Unify the Corona and Heliosphere) mission. He will also offer visitors a chance to view the sun using a solar telescope. Explore Jemez Springs afterward and then come back for our nighttime astronomy program, Stargazing at Gisewa.

This program is included with admission of $7 for adults and free to children 16 years and younger, Tribal members, NM disabled veterans, NM foster families, and FCJHS and MNMF members.

Presented in conjunction with the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture.
