Owls in the Valley - Who, Where, and How

Join the Friends of the Willamette Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex at the Ankeny Hill Nature Center on Saturday, October 4th!

Learn about the ecology, habitats, behaviors, and vocalizations of owls in the Willamette Valley, as well as what we know about the effects of wildfire on owls.

About the presenter: Leila Duchac is an ecologist for the Fire Effects Information System (FEIS) at the USFS Rocky Mountain Research Station Fire Lab in Missoula, Montana. Based in Corvallis, Leila has a master’s degree in Wildlife Science from OSU.

Prior to working for FEIS, Leila was a researcher with the USFS Pacific Northwest Research Station where she monitored northern spotted owl populations using non-invasive methods and evaluated how forest owls use recently burned landscapes.
