Gardening for Wildlife

The Friends of the Willamette Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex invite you to a special presentation on how to combine your love of plants and animals!

Learn how you can create a home for butterflies, birds, deer and other wildlife. Discover gardening strategies that provide wildlife with food, water, shelter, safety, and places to nest!

About the presenter: Stephanie Hazen is a retired veterinarian who lives near Salem. She owned and operated a small animal/exotic animal veterinary practice in Salem from 1985-2013.

In retirement she took up photography and became a Master Gardener and a Master Mellitologist through Oregon State University (OSU). She is passionate about nature and conservation. This year (2025) the OSU Extension Master Gardener program recognized Stephanie with a statewide ‘Behind the Scenes’ award for creating hands-on displays, leading educational events, and sharing resources across Oregon.
