WWII Comes to Jax - the P-51 Crashes in Riverside

The date was July 20, 1944; WWII was raging in Europe. Two young pilots made a costly error bringing their fighters down through the backyards of homes between King St. and Willow Branch Ave. Hear the compelling story of how 2nd lieutenants John Egar and James Cope, ages 19 and 20, disregarded their daily training mission and flew 180 miles to buzz Egar’s childhood home on Post St. Walk the path the planes took, see the homes damaged by the crash, hear the whine of the powerful engines, and smell the burning jet fuel as your tour guide relates the events moment by moment.
