Secret Gardens: A Workshop Series for Young Women
This two-part workshop is designed especially for young women, offering a welcoming space to discover the power of their words, explore their voices through writing, and connect with others in a supportive community. Participants will read inspiring works by women and girls, write and share their own pieces, and practice deep listening—nurturing creativity while building meaningful connections.
In today’s fast-paced world, many young women struggle to find time for creative expression and authentic connection. Too often, they feel isolated and unheard. One of the greatest gifts our programs offer is the realization, through shared words, that we are not alone. Hearing and telling stories creates lasting bonds and reminds us of our shared humanity.
We’ll begin with a fastwrite and group sharing session to foster trust and creativity. Then we’ll shift to a hands-on art activity: creating personal “secret gardens.” Each participant should bring a container; all other materials will be provided. We’ll also take a short nature walk to gather natural items and bring our gardens to life.
Details: Facilitator: Autumn Rutherford, offering this workshop as part of her certification as a facilitator for Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville.
