We have many things we look at when placing students:
Eligibility: Students are only eligible to audition in dance styles that they were enrolled in last year AND must be enrolled in that class this season.
Age: Each competition has their own age categories. We will place them accordingly.
Time spent in the studio per week: Most competitions will also subcategorize age groups by dance experience. We will place students accordingly so as to not adversely affect their category. It does not benefit dancers taking 5 hours of dance a week to be placed with those only dancing 1 or 2 hours.
Our goal is to place each student that wants to participate, however, there are several factors, other than dance ability, that come into consideration. Each student has their individual dance journey. The point is to enjoy your time dancing and be grateful for your abilities. Just like school: Your child may study for hours to make a “C” on a test. Whereas their friend may not study at all and get an “A”. Please know that we base our recommendations and decisions on what’s best for your student as well as your/our time and money.
