CraneOutdoors: Summer Solstice Hike and Fire Pit Adventure

Join us for a beautiful hike to Cedar Point to celebrate the Summer Solstice! Summer at the Crane Estate has so much to offer, and while many guests may be familiar with Crane Beach, Cedar Point is a much less-explored part of the property. Offering maritime scrub forest, woodland Trails, beaches, and beautiful views of Fox Creek, these trails take you through Pitch Pine forests, pristine beach, Castle Hill views and the varied landscape of the Crane Estate.

This hike explores the heart of the Castle Hill trail system, giving you a taste of all it has to offer. It covers approximately three miles, and views down the Grande Allee of the ocean and tip of Plum Island. Along the way, your CraneOutdoors guide will point out the flora found on Castle Hill and Cedar Point, including the unusual dune mushroom known as the Earth Star; and the wildly fragrant Bayberry, whose berries were historically used to make candles.

Your guide will choose the exact route the day of the hike based on current weather conditions and prevailing winds. Guests can expect to leave with a basic understanding of the Castle Hill and Cedar Point trail system–more than enough to whet your appetite and give you the confidence to come back and explore on your own. The Summer Solstice gives us a great opportunity to explore the outdoors on the longest day of the year and take in all nature has to offer. After the hike, we can all gather around the fire to talk about the Solstice and what we enjoy about Summer in New England.
