About the event

A Morning of Reconciliation: Celebrating Indigenous identity, knowledge, and strength
Join us at Innisfil Beach Park on Thursday, June 19 from 6 am to 12 pm as we honour National Indigenous History Month through a morning of teachings, ceremony, and relationship building. Led by Kelly Lavallee from Memengwaa Healing, we will gather by the Lakeside Pavilion for:

🔸 A Sunrise Pipe Ceremony and Sacred Fire
🔸 A community breakfast with strawberry pancakes and cedar tea
🔸 Traditional songs
🔸 Lessons of the ode'imin (strawberry), a symbol of truth, forgiveness, and love
🔸 Honouring the summer solstice and National Indigenous Peoples Day
🔸 An introduction to Indigenous worldview and teachings
🔸 Truth-telling, awareness building, and discussion
🔸 Unlearning, relearning, and reflection

Community members of all ages and backgrounds are welcome! Please bring a blanket or lawn chair.

Kelly Lavallee is an Anishanaabe-Métis Knowledge Keeper from the Deer Clan and founder of Memengwaa Healing and Sitting Turtle Healing and Consulting. Her work is rooted in land, spirit, and the revitalization of Indigenous ways of knowing and healing.

The Lakeside Pavilion is located between Innisfil Beach Park's parking lots B and E. We ask all event participants who are able to park in lot B (parking may be available in parking lot E for individuals who require closer parking, please inquire with the event organizers on site).

This free event is rooted in Indigenous protocol and will create a safe, grounded, and reflective space for truth-telling and healing. We ask all event participants to join us with an open heart and mind.
