Get ready to tune in to the symphony of bird sounds this spring! Bird Sounds 101 is a new 90-minute online workshop presented by Indiana Audubon Society (IAS). IAS Communications and Outreach Manager Whitney Yoerger will introduce you to the basics of identifying bird vocalizations just in time for the breeding season. As birds begin singing their hearts out for breeding season, learn to recognize their songs, calls, and chip notes to elevate your birding.
This interactive workshop, tailored for novice birders and nature enthusiasts, will cover the basics of bird sound identification, including:
-Recognizing patterns and rhythms in bird sounds
-Tips for memorizing and distinguishing between similar sounds
-Using audio resources and apps for bird sound identification
The event will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time (5 to 6:30 p.m. Central Time).
Registration is required and limited to 25 participants. Tickets are $10 for Indiana Audubon members and $20 for non-members. Upon registration, you'll receive a confirmation email with a Zoom link for the live workshop, plus additional reminders via email.
The Zoom event platform is accessible on desktop and mobile devices, with live transcription capabilities. A recording of the event will also be available, providing flexibility for those who cannot attend live.
