Discover the art of transforming everyday scraps into beautiful, handmade paper. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn how to create textured sheets using recycled materials, dried botanicals, and natural fibers.
We’ll guide you step-by-step through blending pulp, pulling sheets with a deckle, adding decorative elements, and pressing and drying your creations. Whether you’re making stationery, gift tags, or art projects, this is a fun, sustainable way to give new life to old paper and make something unique to you.
Level: Beginner
Fee: $35 (2-hour class, includes all materials and use of papermaking equipment)
IMPORTANT NOTE:
You can make as many sheets of paper as you like during the class timeframe, however, you MUST BRING A LARGE BATH TOWEL of your own for EVERY 8.5 X 11" SHEET OF PAPER you want to make. You will dry each sheet on a folded towel that you can take home to dry - drying time will take at least 24 hours. I recommend bringing a half dozen bath towels to leave with 4-8 sheets of handmade paper depending on the size of paper you choose to make. The smoother the nap of the towel/s that you bring, the smoother your paper will turn out. The texture of your towel will 'imprint' onto your pulp.
You are welcome to bring pressed, dried flowers, colorful paper scraps, or bits of yarn or thread to personalize your paper. The smaller and finer the pieces, the smoother your paper will turn out. If you add lumpy pieces, you will have rougher, lumpier paper. All textures of paper are beautiful however, if you want to write on the paper you may want it to be on the smoother side.
Limited to 4 participants for hands-on, one-on-one instruction.
