City Nature Challenge

Did you know Houston was #1 in number of species observed (in the United States) as part of the City Nature Challenge?

Join staff naturalists and volunteer guides as part of this city-wide team documenting wildlife diversity. Learn how to use the iNaturalist app to collect data as part of a global citizen science biodiversity study.

No experience required; participants can earn volunteer service hours. Bring a cell phone with the iNaturalist app installed. Wear closed-toed shoes & bring a reusable water bottle. Expect to hike on gravel and paved trails. No registration required; meet at the nature center.
