● IREM BEKTER, Turquie
Irem Bekter is a multidisciplinary artist born in Istanbul, Turkey. Trained in dance, theater, music, and singing in England, she lived in Argentina for over fifteen years, pursuing careers in theater, television, film, and music. Based in Montreal since 2007, she has performed with the Irem Bekter Quintet on several stages, including the Montreal Jazz Festival. Drawing on her rich cosmopolitan background, Irem Bekter presents a true sonic odyssey that blends Turkish tempos, Argentinian rhythms, British pop, electro, and a Franco-Québécois touch. She is accompanied by David Ryshpan (piano, keyboards), Mathieu Deschenaux (electric bass, double bass), Olivier Bussières (percussion), and Lu Horta (vocal and body percussion, backing vocals).
