A Brooklyn-based Uzbek-American stripper named Ani (Anora) finds herself swept into a whirlwind romance with Vanya, the son of a wealthy Russian oligarch. Their impulsive decision to marry sparks a cultural and familial clash when Vanya’s disapproving parents arrive from Russia. As Ani fights for love and dignity, the film explores themes of identity, class, and resilience.

Anora won five Oscars at the 2025 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director (Sean Baker), Best Actress (Mikey Madison), Best Editing, and Best Original Screenplay.
