The Hates In-Store Performance

Please help us celebrate the release of The Hates’ new album 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘣𝘪𝘥𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘌𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 and wish Christian a belated happy birthday (08/07/1955). Here's a review of the album by Dennis Basinger.

“There are 18 listed songs on the back of the CD cover, however there are actually a few more songs a couple being cover songs rock this town by Brian Setzer and the stray cats and ace of spades by Motörhead.

Several of the songs are staples at live hates shows; while other songs, such as forbidden existence, clockwork heroes are new, and in my opinion should be played at shows. One of my favorites on this album is the title song forbidden existence; it has a great sound with a great hook in the chorus; and the chorus has a “surf punkish” feel to it, which I really gravitate to. I also find it interesting that most of the CD that the bass guitar seems to be highlighted; which is not a bad thing as the bass lines are very intricate and have an awesome tone quality. The lyrics are also very clear and I enjoy listening to Christian‘s lyrics, as they are not the “typical“ punk rock lyrics, but I have intelligence and thought provoking ideas behind them.

Overall, this is a great CD from a band that’s been around for 45 years and I recommend anyone that likes good “old school“ punk rock with great lyrics along with some “fun and whimsy“ in several songs and covers. BTW - my wife (who is not a big punk rock fan) has been borrowing my car with the CD in it has also enjoyed your music!”
