A Walk in the Woods

Step off the pavement and into the wild...

Join us for A Walk in the Woods—a fast-paced, energizing hike through The Anthills, one of Houston’s best-kept outdoor secrets. Nestled along the bayou in Terry Hershey Park, these natural surface trails offer twisty turns, rolling hills, and plenty of shaded serenity. If you’re ready to ditch the pavement and hike Houston’s rugged side, this one’s for you!

🥾 What to Expect:

🚶‍♂️ 3–4 miles at a brisk but conversational pace (22–25 min/mile)

🌿 Natural terrain — expect roots, winding paths, and moderate elevation

🤝 No-drop hike — we stay together, and no one gets left behind

🧍‍♀️ Ideal for hikers of all levels and outdoor social butterflies

🎒 What to Bring:

✅ Trail shoes or sturdy sneakers (trust us—you’ll want traction!)

✅ Plenty of water

✅ Bug spray & sunscreen

✅ Layers depending on weather

✅ Well-behaved dog? Bring them along!

Anthills Parking Lot - 1001 S Dairy Ashford Rd, Houston, TX 77077

Free parking is available (subject to change.) Bayou City Outdoors signs near the front of the parking lot. Arrive at 9:30 for a 9:45am start time. This gives you time to park, get your stuff ready and find the group. We're leaving at 9:45 sharp and we will not be able to send you our location on the trail

🐶 Dog Policy:

Friendly dogs are welcome, but owners must keep them on a short leash and in control at all times.

✔️ Bring a lot of water for dog & poop bags

✔️ No approaching other dogs or hikers without consent
