Alternate Histories’ summer block parties are crossing the river to Homestead and teaming up with Golden Age Beer for a tribute to the one and only Stevie Wonder! 2025 is not only Stevie’s 75th birthday, it’s also the 45th anniversary of his album Hotter Than July. Besides, do you need an excuse to have a Stevie Wonder-themed party Never!
So join us on July 12, 12-9pm for HOTTER THAN JULY: A FREE CELEBRATION OF STEVIE WONDER.
From 12-1pm, Wonder is for the children! We’ll have a Kids Storytime featuring books from Greenfield store Stories Like Me, read by DS Kinsel of BOOM Concepts.
Also from 12-4pm is a market with some great local vendors, including:
• Grow Pittsburgh, with potted plants from their Bird Lab collaboration (and a great tie-in for Stevie’s “Secret Life of Plants” album)
• Stories Like Me, a woman & queer-owned independent children’s bookstore
• Xpresshuns of Love with locally-made candles
• Lotus and Fern, locally made body-care products
• Used vinyl records from Flipping Records & Tapes
And don’t forget the music! From 1-4pm, J.Malls will be spinning records, and Buscrates takes over from 4-7pm.
And finally at 7pm we’re joined by a new supergroup, the Wonder All Stars playing a jazz & soul tribute to Stevie featuring:
- Alton Merrell on keys
- Mike Hugo on guitar
- Lorenze Jefferson on bass
- James Johnson III on drums
- Erika Denae J on vocals
Plus the Golden Age kitchen will be open all day with wood-fired pizza, burgers, & snacks alongside a full bar and crystal-clear pilsners & lagers from the in-house brewery.
Oh and this event, like all shows at Golden Age, is FREE. See you July 12 all for HOTTER THAN JULY!
