Jenny Baker was raised on alfalfa bluegrass and lava rock in Bend, Oregon. Her love of music was fed early by Tori Amos, Ani DiFranco, Patty Griffin, Siouxsie and the Banshees, many lengths of hair metal (as it receded), along with alternative, and opera. Choir robes and playing festivals with The Colored Pencils in the late 90s only fueled the fire. She released her first album in 2003, was voted Bend’s Best Musician in 2004, and released a full-band 5 song EP in 2005. Since she moved to Alaska in 2005, she has played at the Fireweed Festival, Trapper Creek Bluegrass, Anchorage and Juneau Folk Festivals, Salmon Stock, and small venue solo concerts. She played with Alaska’s premier B52’s tribute band, the B-49s in 2018-2019 and now, deeply enjoys community collaborative music projects.
As a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and poet, The Forest That Never Sleeps transports her audience with infectious enthusiasm and raw emotion. From rhapsodic piano lines to gentle finger-picked strings, her dynamic performances leave her
audiences feeling connected to the human experience.
Leah Moraes is a versatile Homer musician, with a voice that transports listeners to another era. Equally skilled on both accordion and guitar, Leah’s music blends nostalgia with a modern edge, focusing on folk genres and creating an unforgettable distinctive sound. Whether she’s delivering a heartfelt ballad or a lively tune, her performances are genuine, earthy, and soul-stirring.
