Join us for our 2025 Annual General Meeting!
The AGM will start at 4pm. However, please join us earlier, at 3pm, for a guided tour of the Peace Cottage and its community garden, with (soft) refreshments in the meeting room thereafter (and also after the meeting, for those who would like to stay to socialise).
The Peace Cottage is one of Hoddesdon's key heritage assets: a Grade II listed Georgian Quaker meeting house built in 1829, which still retains the original panelling and wooden benches designed by Quaker architect William Alderson.
After a period of closure and neglect, the hall and cottage garden are now being restored to life once more by the Peace Cottage Community Hub, for the people of Hoddesdon to enjoy. Do come along before the meeting for the tour to learn more about the building and the restoration efforts.
At our AGM, we will be discussing many issues currently affecting Hoddesdon and its heritage, including the future of RSPB Rye Meads, Rye House Speedway and the former Turnford Surfacing Depot. We'll also have an uplifting update from Lowewood Museum.
If you cannot attend in person but would like to join by Zoom, let us know (

Interested in joining The Hoddesdon Society and would like to come along? You are very welcome - get in touch and let us know you are coming - and we can arrange your membership on the night.
Non-members who are interested in the subject matter are all very welcome to attend and contribute. Only members will be able to vote in the first part of the meeting when we will discuss Hoddesdon Society business. If you're not a member and are intending to join us, please get in touch and let us know you will be coming, so we make sure we have enough chairs.
