広島に原爆が投下され戦後７８年前広島市三篠にある歴清社の経済を復興させるために作られた『箔』。箔とは金属（金や銀など）を薄く延ばして作られる装飾品に由来。古くは古墳の壁画や仏像に使われ、美術品や伝統工芸品の装飾に用いられる。主に広島『箔』の作品展です。並びに戦後職を失う人々があふれ仏具屋の仏師が生き延びるために制作された特注の広島仏師が彫った『額』を用い作品展を開催。

Voices of Prayer: 80th Anniversary of the Atomic Bombing Project

‘Haku’ was created 78 years after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima to revive the economy of a historic shrine in Misasa City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Haku originates from decorative items made by thinly stretching metals like gold or silver. Historically used in ancient tomb murals and Buddhist statues, it is employed to decorate artworks and traditional crafts. This exhibition primarily features Hiroshima ‘Haku’ works. Additionally, it showcases pieces using custom-made ‘frames’ carved by Hiroshima Buddhist sculptors. These frames were produced by Buddhist altar craftsmen who lost their jobs after the war, enabling them to survive by creating these special orders.
