Plant Pressing Workshop

Led by Dr. Kathy Mathews, Botany Professor & Director of the WCU Herbarium

Wednesday, May 14, 2:00 - 4:00 PM

Location: HBS Herbarium, Coker Lab Building

Join us for a hands-on workshop to learn the art and science of plant pressing!

What to Expect:

Explore pressed specimens in the HBS herbarium and discuss their importance.

Collect plant samples along the roadside and make field notes. Feel free to bring cut plants from your garden to press.

Learn plant pressing techniques and label-making in the Coker classroom.

Take home your dried, pressed plants or use the HBS dryer to pick them up the following week.

What to Bring (if available):

Your own plant press (or purchase one at HBS).

Bifold newspaper, pruners, trowel, small notebook, and a phone or tablet with iNaturalist or Seek.
