Mulholland Drive

We're pleased to present this third entry into this summer's David Lynch memorial series -- one of the most surreal of his films, and certainly one that's difficult to explain, or even pin down. Winner of the 2001 Cannes Award for Best Director and nominated for an Academy Award for the same, MULHOLLAND DRIVE is Lynch at his most hazy and dreamlike (see: his tagline -- "a love story in the city of dreams"), starting off as a mystery where a newcomer to LA (Naomi Watts) links up with a woman with amnesia (Laura Harring), segueing into side stories (one of which features one of the most terrifying scenes ever behind Winkie's Diner), then making a sharp transition with the transmutation of the two lead roles. Voted the best film of the 21st century by the BBC, this is one of David Lynch's best - see you Saturday, friends!
