Pin and cut out a large-scale pattern, stitch French seams and create lined patch pockets for that professional finish, iron and sew a double hem, sew a facing
Skill level:
Basic sewing experience needed and ability to thread up a sewing machine and bobbin. We will be ironing and then sewing a narrow double hem around a curve.
A full-size paper pattern. The pattern is one size but the straps and hem can be adjusted when cutting out

This workshop is not suitable for complete beginners. All other levels are welcome.
What to bring:
2.2m of cotton/linen/denim fabric (fabric that is stiff and takes ironing well). If you want to use scraps of fabric and/or mix and match your fabrics please email us at the

Thread (polyester) to match your fabric (preferably from the recycled polyester ranges from Gutermann or Coats)
You’re welcome to bring your own machine to learn on if you prefer but please make sure you’re familiar with it and its threading etc. This is not the workshop to learn about your personal machine.

Angela Pressley is a best-selling author of sewing books. She has appeared on TV and at Stitch shows giving live demonstrations of her projects. Her sewing school ‘The Sewing Club’ has been established in Kent for over 17 years. Subsequently she has a wealth of sewing expertise and hands-on experience in teaching adults and children how to sew from beginners to more advanced levels.
