Professional Natural Soap Making With Essential Oils

This hands-on and relaxing 2.5 hour beginner soap class is perfect for individuals interested in learning how to professionally create natural and aromatic bars without the use of synthetic fragrances, colors and additives. You’ll be guided by Brenda Brown, an experienced artisan soap maker specialized in creating soaps using natural herbs, florals, oils and clays, and also passionate about teaching the wholesome life-long skill that is natural soap-making. This is an ultimate class experience for makers looking to welcome a rewarding new hobby or to introduce cleaner and healthier forms of beauty and self-care to themselves, family and friends.

You will learn how to properly and safely make and scent soap containing delicate essential oils using the cold-process method. A traditional method of making soap that involves combining a strong base (lye) with fatty acids leading to a neutralization reaction called saponification, without the addition of heat. You’ll learn basic perfumery skills as you customize your own refreshing essential oil blend. And will jump in, sifting through raw ingredients, to create your own personal batch.

Soap-making is not only a useful art and science but can also be a therapeutic process. This interactive class will ensure that you’ll grasp all the informational steps at your own pace, in a relaxed environment and with room to connect with like-minded makers!

Students will leave with over 2 pounds of freshly prepared artisanal cold-process soap to cure at home for `~4 weeks, a professional and reusable silicone lined wooden soap mold, and a beginner recipe. As well as Brenda’s essential Beginners Cold Process Soap-Making manual with all the material covered during class plus care instructions, expert tips and some of our favorite suppliers.

• Essential soap-making supplies and where to source them.
• How to use a lye calculator to formulate your own inspired recipes at home.

WHAT TO BRING:

You'll be provided with all the protective gear and materials needed for class. We just ask that you bring or wear a long sleeve shirt and closed-toed shoes.

18 years. We’ll be using strong caustic lye which is designed for use by adults.

ABOUT BRENDA:

I have been crafting natural body care for over 10 years and find the process to be a creative and therapeutic journey. Switching from commercial to natural soaps has been beneficial for my skin and well-being. However, I noticed that some naturally labeled soaps were made with synthetic fragrances, which overwhelmed my senses. I set out to create bars that were true to their natural scents and therapeutic. Essential oils can be adaptogenic and work with your nervous system to achieve overall balance in the body. They also smell amazing. I’ve faced some challenges and wins with using solely essential oils. I’ll provide my best advice to help you avoid some costly mistakes and give you the confidence you need to begin your truly natural soap-making journey!

Your ticket reserves your class seat(s). Cancellation requests made at least 7 days in advance of class start are eligible for a partial refund. Requests made less than 7 days prior to the start of class can be rescheduled for a later available class date. No call/no shows are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
