We've had quite a long break since our last race, at Lugwardine, North East of Hereford, due to the necessary re-scheduling of the Tintern race, but we are back Hereford way for race 10 in the league, this time running in the parkland and suburbs of South West Hereford. It's a fairly flat area, and hopefully the evening temperature might be a bit lower by then. All the details can be found at
https://www.ngoc.org.uk/event/hereford-2025/. To participate, you just need a smartphone with the MapRun app on - must be the latest version - MapRun V7 - no headtorch needed now, though to help people with travel time we have moved the start window back 30 minutes - so starts 18:30-19:00. We are normally there early, however, so if that's a bit late for you, you should be able to start before 18:30 as long as the maps have arrived!
If you are new to MapRun, you can find out all about it at
https://www.ngoc.org.uk/maprun-gloucestershire/.
Basically, though, the aim is to use a simple map, which we will provide, to find your way to 'virtual' checkpoints, with the phone recording each as you get there. You have 60 minutes to score as many points as you can, the checkpoints having varying values.
Ideally, you should pre-enter at Fabian4.co.uk, but you can just turn up on the night and hope that we will have a spare map for you. Ideally bring cash for your entry fee, which covers map printing, third party liability insurance, and post run cake, but we have a card machine which should work there. It's good fun, a nice change from just pounding the streets on your routine training run, and there is always someone around to explain how it all works.
