We are thrilled to announce a Forró Roots and Vinyl weekend with Brenda Antunes and DJ Moreno! 🤩
The weekend will consist of inspiring workshops and two vibrant parties celebrating the best of forró music in original vinyl. What makes it even more special is that this is the first time we are bringing a world-class forró DJ to Helsinki. An occasion not to be missed! 😉
💃🏻 ABOUT THE TEACHER:
Brenda Antunes is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer from Rio de Janeiro who has dedicated her life to movement since childhood. She began her journey in ballet and jazz as a child, later falling in love with couple dances, especially forró.
She holds a BA in dance from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She has studied various forró styles and holds the black necklace from the prestigious Pé Descalço school. Since 2018, she has specialised in the roots style. Her teaching style blends solid technique with body awareness.

🎶 ABOUT THE DJ:
DJ Moreno mixes the whole spectrum of Forró Music, especially tunes that lift up the human spirit. He especially enjoys orchestrated, instrumental, and female voices. When there is a Violin, Clarinet, Saxophone, or Flute in a song, that is his core style. He also loves traditional Forró and its contagious melodies. Slow, fast, new, and old songs are featured during his sets, with the intention of illustrating the enormous diversity of Forró music.
DJ Moreno is also the founder and co-creator of the Vinilo No Forró Festival, which takes place in Brussels, Belgium, every year in June. This is a 100% Vinyl Festival that combines both dancing teachers and Forró Vinyl DJs from all around the world. His real name is Peter Moreno, and he was born in Santiago, Chile. He encountered Forró while living in Brussels, Belgium. However, he lived in São Paulo for almost a year, where he probably listened to Forró for the first time and developed some Portuńol Skills :-).
