For this occasion, we will have two sets of solo performances and one group performance by our main guests: Adriano Adewale, Misa Lommi and The Global Interdisciplinary
Improvisation Ensemble. After showcasing these outstanding performances, the stage will be open for the “Blind dates for improvisers”: A first-time encounter among members of the audience and our main guests. Bring along your instruments, get inspired by the art works at Forumbox, and perform with the main guests!

Adriano Adewale: a versatile musician and performer, known for his unconventional and exploratory approach to music, and for his ability to create magical soundscapes from the seemingly banal. With an intriguing array of worldwide percussion instruments as well as his unique vocal percussion skills, Adriano has nurtured a sound world of his own. Adewale has an unique ability to play and create mesmerising atmospheres and soundscapes; he paints with sounds, telling stories through music. His percussion playing is creative and innovative, revealing beauty with subtle touch, combined with deep and powerfully crafted infectious grooves. The poetry created by Adewale’s heartfelt, thoughtful drumming in addition to a masterful delivery of his artwork, has captivated and mesmerised audiences from around the world.
Misa Lommi works diversely as both a dancer and an actor.
She is a graduate of the Tamara Rasmussen Institute and studied dance at institutions including the University of Dance and Circus in Stockholm, in 2006. She later completed her
Master of Arts in Theatre at the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki in 2013. Lommi has danced in works by Tero Saarinen, Anton Lachky, Tom Weksler, Valtteri Raekallio, Susanna Leinonen, and Carl Knif. She has also worked as a dancer and choreographer for Paula Vesala. Lommi has been engaged at the Svenska Teatern and at the Stockholm City Theatre, where she also danced with K. Kvarnström & Co. In recent years, she acted at the Helsinki City Theatre, where she was also engaged as a dancer with the Helsinki Dance Company. Additionally, she has performed at Tampereen Työväenteatteri, Ryhmäteatteri, and the Espoo City Theatre. Lommi has appeared in several Finnish films and television series. She also creates her own works and works as a choreographer. Since 2016, she has been teaching extensively across various disciplines.
The Global Interdisciplinary Improvisation Ensemble embraces students from the different programs at the Uniarts Helsinki, in order to develop skills for creating multidisciplinary performances in real time. By merging together diverse artistic and cultural backgrounds, as well as different genres and levels of expertise, the ensemble displays a unique way of creating improvised pieces in different line-ups. For this occasion, the ensemble brings along a set full of sonic and performative experiences collected by the interaction of its members
during an intensive course-laboratory period conducted by Sergio Castrillón during the end of the summer.
HELSINKI EXPERIMENTAL SERIES 2024/2025 is a Community Engagement/Action Research/Artistic Research project, that intends to establish an interaction space for members of the different communities of improvisers based or working in Helsinki
.
The HES 2024/2025 series is developed and funded in collaboration with: Forum Box Gallery, The Global Music Department of the Sibelius Academy, Interkult (Kassandra ry), and the KONE Foundation. The research, curatorial, and artistic direction component of this project is run by Sergio Castrillón.
