The Delta Cultural Center will host our second annual Jazz on the River Concert at the Cherry Street Pavilion on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. This will be in conjunction with a planned Teacher Appreciation Event at the DCC Visitor Center from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. With these affairs happening across the street from each other, we hope our patrons will attend both.
The second annual Jazz on the River Concert will feature three talented musicians with Arkansas and Midsouth roots. They are Jose' Holloway, Nicky Parish, and Ping Rose. A local jazz group made of area students will start the concert off. Featured entertainers will follow.
Jose' Holloway was born and raised in Little Rock and his music blends jazz, gospel, soul and hip-hop to honor his home. As an aspiring musician in middle school, he first found the trumpet and began to perform with local artists. It was then Holloway realized that he would play jazz and gospel for the rest of his life. His upbeat shows always get the crowd involved and he was a big hit at the first Jazz on the River Concert in 2024.
Nicky Parish, who is a native of Little Rock, produces a sound that soothes the soul and warms the heart. She has participated in numerous tours and performed with many well-known musicians. Parish is also a six-time Apollo winner, 2011 Arkansas Urban Music R&B Artist of the Year, and 2013 Arkansas Platinum Hood Award winner. In addition, Parish has her own entertainment company.
Ping Rose is a Memphis-based singer-guitarist blending blues, jazz, and alternative rock into a unique, story-driven sound. Influenced by Hendrix, George Benson, The Cure, and BB King, he's known for both high-energy performances and intimate acoustic sets. He has produced several albums.
This event will begin at 5 p.m. and is free to the public. Please bring blankets or lawn chairs since this concert will be outside at the Pavilion, which is on the levee at Helena, Arkansas. Event information and performance times will follow, so please keep up with our social media for updates. Food trucks are also expected to be at this concert.
