Dave Seter - "Zoka" Nature Writiing

“Zoka” is the Japanese term for ways nature changes or transforms humans as we interact with its patterns and cycles. Join the current Poet Laureate of Sonoma County and discover overlooked natural objects in Healdsburg’s plaza. The workshop will give a brief introduction before an expedition to the plaza. Back at THE 222, participants will reflect before drafting vivid poetry (or short prose). Seter will guide writers to find personal connection to nature, one step in creating a life-long appreciation for the natural world and all its elements. After a dinner break, participants may choose to participate in a program of a public reading with Dave Seter in THE 222’s Open-Mic.

Dave Seter has been named Sonoma County Poet Laureate 2024-26. He is a civil engineer, essayist, and poet. He is the author of the full-length poetry collection Don’t Sing to Me of Electric Fences and the chapbooks Night Duty and Somewhere West of the Mississippi. Informed by his career in the field of environmental protection, he writes about social and environmental issues, including the intersection of the built world and the natural world.
