About the event

Nationalism & Vicissitudes
Our next concert on Saturday 30th August at 2.00pm at MLC, Kew is titled “Nationalism & Vicissitudes”. The items to be performed are the Overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein, the Symphony no. 2 by Jean Sibelius, Fanfare by Willow Woodman, and the Piano Concerto in C sharp minor by Francis Poulenc.

Regular visitors will notice the change in time for this concert, which has occurred due to different concert hall arrangements on that day.

Our soloist in the piano concerto will be the eminent teacher and performer, Professor Glenn Riddle.

Glenn Riddle studied piano at the University of Melbourne with Ronald Farren-Price before undertaking post-graduate studies at the Royal College of Music, London with Peter Wallfisch and at the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna with Paul Badura-Skoda. He is currently Senior Lecturer in Keyboard at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, a Research Associate (University of Waikato, NZ) and Visiting Professor (Nanjing University of Arts, China).

Glenn is also an AMEB Federal Examiner, member of the AMEB International Examining Panel, Senior Music Critic for leading cultural magazine Classic Melbourne, member of the National Committee of the Australasian Piano Pedagogy Conference, Board Director of the VMTA, Artistic Advisor to the Camberwell Music Society, and Music Advisor to the Youth Music Foundation, Australia.

Glenn has recorded 15 CDs for labels such as ABC Classics, Move Records, Tall Poppies and Hal Leonard, and is also featured on the internationally acclaimed DVD Classical Destinations III performing the works of Percy Grainger on the composer's own piano held at the Grainger Museum.
