Get ready for an exhilarating evening of brass rhythm and American spirit! The Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic Brass Quintet takes center stage at Harmony in the Woods for a thrilling Americana program that will have the whole family tapping their toes and humming along.

This vibrant performance will feature a dynamic mix of New Orleans jazz lively ragtime and classic film scores alongside timeless works from Gershwin Ellington Bernstein Irving Berlin and more. As part of the NEPA Philharmonic’s Stoppini Chamber Series this concert is an opportunity to experience extraordinary musicianship up close delivered by an ensemble known for its brilliance precision and infectious energy.

BIOS:

Darin Kelly

Darin Kelly has spent over thirty years performing with prestigious ensembles including the Philadelphia Orchestra IRIS Orchestra and Timberdale Brass for whom he arranges much of the repertoire. His recording Soprano Arias with Trumpet and Organ was internationally praised for its seamless virtuosity. A graduate of the University of Michigan he is a prolific arranger and orchestrator with works performed by Boston Pops National Symphony Orchestra and Buffalo Philharmonic. His innovative settings have expanded the chamber repertoire blending classical and jazz influences. In addition to his classical work he is a sought-after guitar and piano accompanist in traditional Irish music. His compositions and arrangements have been recorded on Albany Naxos Ondine and Deutsche Grammophon.

Eric Schweingruber

Eric Schweingruber trumpet has been a guest musician with The Philadelphia Orchestra since 1997 joining them on eight international tours and multiple recordings. He has performed with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra Russian National Orchestra and Oslo Philharmonic as well as Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia Pennsylvania Ballet and Opera Philadelphia. A founding member of Timberdale Brass he is a frequent performer throughout the Philadelphia region. Formerly a member of the Bay-Atlantic Symphony and Ocean City Pops his performances continue to delight audiences with their energy and precision.

Andrea Menousek

Andrea Menousek has been Principal Horn of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic since 1994 and Second Horn of the New Jersey Symphony since 1991. She has performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra American Symphony Orchestra Arizona Opera and the International Mozart Festival. In addition to orchestral work she frequently collaborates with chamber ensembles including the Springfield Symphony Chamber Players. A dedicated educator she mentors students through the Academy Orchestra NEPP mentorship program and the New Jersey Youth Symphony. A native of Northampton MA she holds degrees from Juilliard (MM) and Boston University (BM).

Jason Stein

Jason Stein is a Philadelphia-based trombonist who has performed with Chicago Symphony St. Louis Symphony Jacksonville Symphony and IRIS Orchestra as well as with artists such as The Beach Boys BB King Amos Lee and Chicago. He is a member of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic and serves as its personnel manager and librarian. Jason earned his degrees from Northwestern University (MM) and Boston University (BM) and won his first audition with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. A passionate educator he teaches at Haverford College and coaches students through the Philadelphia Orchestra’s All City Fellowship Program and the NEPA Philharmonic’s Mentorship Program.

Brian Brown

Brian Brown is principal tuba of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra Orchestra Lumos Philly Pops and the Kennett Symphony and acting principal tuba for the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic. A professor at University of Delaware Rowan University and The College of New Jersey and a lecturer at Princeton University he is also a founding member of Timberdale Brass. He has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra Pennsylvania Ballet and Opera Philadelphia and is the featured tuba player for NFL Films. Brown has recorded with Orchestra 2001 and the Philadelphia Orchestra and has been a soloist with Delaware Symphony Rowan University Wind Ensemble and Ocean City Pops. A dedicated educator he has led masterclasses at Curtis Institute Eastman School of Music and Odessa Conservatory. When not playing tuba he enjoys long-distance cycling.
