The winners in each category will be determined by Judge Voting and Audience Voting. Prize money donated by Joanne Slutsky and Joe Valente in loving memory of Mindy Levin Davis. Mindy Levin Davis was a warm, thoughtful, generous, funny woman, much beloved by family and friends. She hailed from Overbrook Park, where she began her life-long passion for vocal music. She was keenly interested in singing competitions like the Al Alberts Showcase of Springfield, PA., and she had a fine singing voice in her own right. She sang professionally with a band in Atlantic City and at several other local venues. She married a local area singer/musician, Eddie Davis, and lived with him in Bala Cynwyd until her recent death. Greatly missed, she would have been pleased to have the support for young talent as her legacy. The donors, Joanne Slutsky and Joe Valente, were Mindy’s friends for over half a century. Joanne grew up with Mindy in Overbrook Park and knew her to be a music aficionado from an early age. Upon Mindy’s untimely passing, Joanne and Joe thought a singing competition would be the perfect way to commemorate their friend. They are grateful for the opportunity to do so with the Mindy Levin Davis Vocalist Prize at the Kelly Center.
