Learn when to intervene and when not to adjust in yoga
This masterclass is intended for any practitioner and/or teacher who wishes to deepen their understanding of the complexity of postures and how to simplify them into sections that are easy and 'healthy' to perform. We will explore where physical limitations are present, and where—and when—these limitations can be overcome.
You will learn a set of procedures and techniques to help open the body more or deepen postures—both for your personal practice and for those you assist.
You will learn to think independently and respond according to the unique nuances of the body you’re working with
In This Training We Will Explore:
-Why we give and receive physical adjustments
-Different categories of adjustments and how to use them for optimal results
-The benefits of physical adjustments—for both the giver and the receiver
-When to adjust and when not to—cultivating discernment and sensitivity
-When and how to incorporate verbal cues to support and enhance physical adjustments
-Do’s and Don’ts—essential principles for safe and respectful touch
-Adapting adjustments to different body proportions—bridging the gap between the adjuster and the recipient
-How to find the optimal level of intensity, and how to work with intensity mindfully
-The subtle, silent communication between the one adjusting and the one being adjusted
-The role of breath and building rapport—creating trust and receptivity through presence
-Partner work—exploring postures ideal for working with a peer, whether in class or an informal setting
-For those interested, there will be an opportunity to apply what you’ve learned by assisting in classes at our
Saturday 5th of July 10 am to 13:00 pm at Uzmaston Hall
