The incomparable Troy Kingi is coming to the Black Barn Bistro for two intimate solo shows on Wednesday, 6 August and Thursday, 7 August, and we couldn’t be more excited.
A proud Te Arawa, Ngāpuhi and Te Whānau-ā-Apanui artist, Troy is a multi-award-winning, multi-genre musician and actor, originally from Rotorua and Te Kaha, now based in Kerikeri with his wife and five children. Known for his deep soul, rich storytelling, and fearless musical range, he’s been described by the New Zealand Music Commission as “Our Northland Treasure.”
From the laid-back funk of Guitar Party at Uncle’s Bach to the cosmic grooves of Shake That Skinny Ass All the Way to Zygertron, Troy’s genre-hopping albums have cemented him as one of Aotearoa’s most compelling creative voices. Add to that standout acting roles in Kiwi films like Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Mt Zion, and The Breaker Upperers, and it’s clear Troy Kingi is a rare talent.
Expect an evening of raw, soulful music, shared stories, good company, and outstanding food in the warm, intimate Bistro.
Tickets include a two-course dinner and a solo performance by Troy Kingi.
