Welcome to our Watercolour Botanicals short course! Join us for a fun and creative experience where you'll learn how to paint beautiful botanicals using watercolours. This in-person short course is perfect for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists. Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature as you explore techniques for capturing vibrant blooms on paper.

During this class you will learn how to "see" as an artist sees, and which techniques which will enable you to capture your subject on paper. We will also be learning a range of watercolour techniques such as stretching paper, masking, and colour mixing. By the end of the course, you will be able to differentiate between a variety of local flowers, and will be confident in creating dynamic paintings of them whilst looking at structure, texture, colour, and tonal range.

Course outline:

Week 1: sketching botanicals

Week 2: paper stretching, colour mixing, practicing painting techniques

Week 3: composing and sketching our final piece, starting to paint

Week 4: finish our masterpieces

You will be given a mount to frame your masterpiece at the end of the course.

All necessary materials will be provided on the day, you need only bring yourself, and a sketchbook (white in colour), and any comfort or support accessories you may need.
