Emma Johnson, celebrated for her expressive and dynamic playing, will perform her own piece, Tree of Life, a work inspired by the natural world and humanity’s connection to it. Her composition is a beautiful homage to the resilience and beauty of nature, weaving themes that resonate with our need to protect and cherish the planet. Throughout the concert, Emma will also offer insights and anecdotes, guiding us through each piece with her own thoughtful narrative.

Gustav Holst Brook Green Suite
Opening the programme, Brook Green Suite by Holst reflects his fascination with English folk music and natural landscapes. Composed in 1933 for the St. Paul's Girls' School, the piece is both lyrical and joyful, offering a refreshing ode to the English countryside.
Giacomo Puccini Crisantemi
Crisantemi (Chrysanthemums) is one of very few non-operatic pieces written by Puccini, and was written as a heartfelt elegy, written in a single night in response to the death of his friend Amadeo di Savoia, a former King of Spain, aged 44. This poignant, sombre piece carries an emotional weight, drawing listeners into a world of reflection and beauty, making it a perfect fit for an evening dedicated to nature's inspiration.
Paul Reade Suite from the Victorian Kitchen Garden
This delightful suite, originally composed for the beloved BBC series The Victorian Kitchen Garden, brings a nostalgic charm with its gentle, folk-like melodies. Each movement is a graceful musical portrayal of a classic English garden, evoking images of serene landscapes and flourishing plants.
