WILD AT HEART movie screening

ONE NIGHT ONLY-David Lynch’s Wild at Heart is a chaotic, fever-dream road trip that swerves through danger, desire, and dark humor — all with a surreal nod to The Wizard of Oz. Think yellow brick roads, wicked witches, and Toto reimagined through Lynch’s twisted lens.

Laura Dern and Nicolas Cage star as Lula and Sailor, a lovers-on-the-run duo blazing out of Cape Fear, North Carolina in a cherry-red Thunderbird. Their aim is California, but their journey detours into the nightmarish town of Big Tuna, Texas — a place as bizarre as it sounds.

Winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 1990, Wild at Heart is Lynch’s wildest blend of romance and madness, where comedy teeters on the edge of something much darker. Dern gives one of her most unforgettable performances, sharing the screen with her real-life mother Diane Ladd, who earned an Oscar nomination for her ferocious role.

A far cry from the wide-eyed innocence of her Blue Velvet character, Lula is bold, impulsive, and fiercely in love — and this film takes her (and us) to places we don’t expect.
