Learn the basics of safe firearms handling and build your skills with this hands-on workshop focused on hunting with shotguns. If you’re interested in hunting ruffed grouse, waterfowl, or just getting started with firearms, this class will give you the knowledge and confidence you need to take the next steps.
The workshop opens with firearms safety and range safety instruction. There will be opportunity to ask any questions throughout the workshop. For those 12 and up, participants will then receive supervised time at the range using clay targets to simulate flushed birds.
What You’ll Learn:
· Safe firearm handling in the home and in the field, including field carry positions
· Different types of shotgun gauges and actions and how they work
· Differences between ammunition types
· Selecting shot size for different game species
· Effects of choke on shotgun performance and distance
· Shooting stance and technique
· Brief overview of hunting laws and regulations
· Shotgun maintenance and storage.
This is great for the new hunter or target shooter, and a great refresher for experienced folks to get ready for the season.
This course is taught by certified instructors in a supportive, safety-first environment.
