Living Room Concert with the beekeeper and the sugarmaker

Join Franklin and Ray in the Civic Standard Living Room for an evening of tunes that span traditions from Kentucky to Quebec and Maritime fiddling, to traditional and contemporary folk songs. Might be a few stories if you’re lucky.


Franklin Heyburn is your typical French-speaking Yankee Vermonter from Kentucky. He started out playing harmonica, banjo and basketball, later learned to fiddle from the Henrie family, and was an original member of the Dee Wells Tenor Banjo Band. Professionally, he taught science and kept Vermonters in honey. He maintains a healthy appetite.


Ray Lewis is a multi-instrumentalist and sugarmaker who lives in Walden, Vermont. He learned folk singing and a love of traditional music from his parents and has played guitar across many genres for over forty years. More recently, he has become obsessed by the banjo, and started playing fiddle after getting shocked by an electric fence.
