LOVE PART 5
Friday 4 July 2025
"Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour"
Our Friday reading will be from John 13:35
By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
~Today's sharing introduces us to A NEW DIMENSION about love.
~Our chosen text brings to light aspects of identity.
~According to this text, *the genuineness and seriousness of our Christianity becomes visible in the eyes of the world around us if we love one another.*
~Love is presented as the distinguishing mark of Christ's followers (1 John 3:23).
~Under Mosaic law, it was common to teach about loving the Lord with all one's powers and loving one's neighbour as oneself (Leviticus 19:18; Deuteronomy 6:5).
~Jesus' own love and teaching deepen and transform these commands.
~We are commanded to love one another as Jesus had loved his disciples (John 13:1).
~If we are to relate this teaching to Christ's subsequent death, it becomes clear that his understanding of love for one another implies a love that is even willing to lose everything for another.
Our Prayer Points for today include orphans, family projects, and those of us who have lost relatives and friends during the week. *Enjoy your day*
