The Gettysburg Region Board has approved a unique “Winter” Tour – The Hanover Holiday Tour. Not your typical “Tour”; short distance, at an unusual (probably never done) time of year, antiques but not old cars, and held regardless of weather.
In Hanover, PA, Saturday, December 27th – the Saturday between the Christmas and New Years “holidays”.
BUT NOTE: No Coffee and donuts. “Tour” starts at the first stop – the trains.
Logistic details include:
We’ll begin the Fire Museum visit at 9:00 am. Park in the Hanover Street Elementary School lot at 101 East Hanover St. - across the street from the Fire Museum. At 10:30 am we’ll begin the 3 block “drive” to the Warehime-Myers Mansion. Or walk if you want – it’s only a couple blocks. The Mansion folks will open an hour early for us to begin our tour at 11:00. We’ll park behind the Mansion and in any available street parking. To maximize the number of cars, and weather permitting, the first cars to arrive at the Mansion should park on the lawn behind the Mansion – off the alley behind the Mansion, with other cars behind them on the paved parking area. But the PA winter could give us frozen ground (good), snow (bad) OR mud (really bad). If we can’t park in the Mansion back yard you will need to double up by sharing rides with other GR members from the holiday trains to the holiday trees.
After we finish the Mansion holiday tree tour, we’ll head to get hot dogs – less than a mile north in Hanover. We’ll order individually.
Cost: $10 per person. December 15th cut off – register early please.
