Science on Tap - Glacial History of the Western UP

Please join us on December 9th for the fourth Science on Tap - Houghton!

We welcome presenter Stan Vitton, professor emeritus, civil and environmental engineering at Michigan Tech University.

Stan will discuss the beautiful landscape of the western Upper Peninsula as not only a function of its bedrock geology but its dramatic glacial history. The talk will provide a brief overview of the underlying bedrock geology that created its terrain, but as importantly how its many and varied landforms resulted from its glacial past. Our landscape has had an immense journey and this talk will help folks’ understanding of how it came to be.
