The Angry Goose Acre & Nursery is proud to announce that we will be part of this years NB Food Tours organized by Sima's Roots & Fruits.
You will be welcomed to the Angry Goose Acre & Nursery where we will be hosting a guided tour Saturday August 16th from to 2pm until 4pm. Our tour will include how to grow a wide variety of fruits, nuts and berries! Even a few new things that exist beyond grocery store shelves 😉. The best part is they all can grow in our maritime climate.
So walk with us through our orchard as we explore the various species we grow!!! Some lost and forgotten!!... some functionally extinct or taboo!....and even some forbidden edible plants!!
You will also see how we are using american persimmon on a riparian flood plain for erosion management!
Highlights of the guided tour include how to grow:
- 4 species of walnut
- pure american chestnut
- 7 variety of raspberries and blackberries
- 20 types of grape vine
- prickly pear cactus
- a collection of cold hardy fig varieties
- pawpaw
- medlar.
Throughout our walk we will also answer an array of questions many people often have when trying to grow certain species of fruit, nut and berries in our harsh climate! We will discuss aspects of entry level homesteading including time management, and proper land allocation for best benefits to your livestock, and yourself!
We will have a small selection for sale of: -homemade bread and dinner rolls
-fresh chicken eggs
-some species of plants
-fruits and berries
Cost is $15 per person for the tour. This is split with Sima's Roots & Fruits for all their time and energy in organizing this incredible tour (and all the other tours just like us all around New Brunswick). A portion of the funds collected from Angry Goose Acre is donated to Fresh Start Dane Rescue.
