Mental Preparedness with Ema Golub

In one week Svalbard's very own Ema Golub, a psychologist at UNIS, will kick off World Mental Health Week at the Radisson Blu! Her talk will be in Norwegian from 18:00-18:45 and in English from 18:45-19:30. The event is free but please register so we know how to organise the room. We hope to see you there! ✨

Ema will be talking about how important it is to acknowledge and accept when we are having a hard time- and that feeling anxious or stressed is just as normal as feeling happy or fine. That we must acknowledge and accept this before we can see real results from other healthy efforts like exercise. She will also explain what happens physically in our body during this time and give practical guidance on how to counter it.

Lastly, she will introduce a Mental Preparedness Plan (Forebyggningsplan) that you can take home to work on. This is a handout-worksheet for personal use no matter the difficulty, to think through your challenges and triggers, identify warning signs and resources available to you, and to ultimately create a plan to be prepared during a difficult period.

Remember- we will also have a booth at Lompen the whole week where we will have copies of the Preparedness Plan for pick up- in addition to free magnets, stickers, snacks (protein bars and power cookies!), a brochure with tips in English and Norwegian- and also some activities!
