Want to learn to dance? Now is your chance.
Join us for a fun Wednesday night, learn a few moves, meet neat people, and dance the night away.
You can come by yourself or bring a friend.
We rotate partners in class so everyone gets to dance.
You don't need any dance experience; we've got you covered. All welcome.
Dates: 3rd September – 22nd October 2025
Time: Beginners Bachata Class 7–8pm, social dancing 8pm onwards
Venue: Puu Toi, 145 London Street. On street parking only!
Cost: $5, cash, and bank transfer accepted
What to expect
Taking that first step onto the dance floor can be scary, but oh so much fun awaits!
Bachata is a very popular partner dance, originating in the Dominican Republic and danced worldwide.
Come learn this universal language of dance and be part of an international culture.
Each class is one hour long and includes a simple warm-up that goes over basic steps and timing. A short partner work sequence taught with counts and music.
If you miss a class, don't worry, we repeat the basics every week.
After class, we turn up the music for social dancing so you have a chance to practice what you have learnt.
Our resident DJs play Bachata, Linear Salsa, Salsa Cubana, Zouk, and Cha Cha Cha music.
What to bring
Your smile, a warm layer for after class, and a water bottle.
What to wear
We recommend lightweight clothing that you can move easily in. Please wear shoes you can balance well in, no stilettos, boots, sneakers or heavy shoes. Ladies, if you are wearing heels please check with the teacher to see if you need heel caps. We have heel caps for sale.
