What's happening at the mill?
The Mill Shop will be open for courses, tours, shopping and making Friday June 27th, 1pm - 5pm and Saturday June 28th 10am - 4pm
A lot! Jess of Skagit Woolen Works will be at the mill doing a trunk show and she's bringing beautiful PNW fibers and yarns from her mill. We are also offering some great learning opportunities, mill tours and there will of course be space at the maker's table for spinning, knitting, chatting and shopping. If you'll be in the area attending Black Sheep Gathering, the Ewethful mill is just 30 minutes south of the festival.
We thought it would also be fun to combine our wool knowledge into some fun and easy tutorials in case you aren't able to make it to workshops at Black Sheep (and they have a lot). You don't want to miss the chance to get so much info from such knowledgeable wool workers!
On Friday June 27th 1:30pm - 3pm Jess will be hosting Spinning Explorations, an introduction to yarn making with a demo in drop spindle spinning among the fun. Each participant will have a drop spindle to use to practice during the tutorial. Fall in love? The spindles will be available to purchase for a discount after the session. Jess will also talk about support spindles and wheel spinning to give you some other tools to think about. Cost is $20 per person. Head to the Ewethful website to register and save your spot!
On Saturday June 28th, 11am - 12:30 pm Kim and Sandy will be hosting Handspinning 911. For those of you newer to wheel spinning, returning to the craft or just feeling stuck and uninspired, this is for you. Learn more about your wheel (or e-spinner) and how to troubleshoot common issues plus there will be plenty of time for you to ask questions with two very experienced spinners. This workshop will help you build your spinning confidence and help you to understand how to make your wheel work for you. Head to the Ewethful website to register and save your spot.
Please register for classes in advance to save your spot. We hope to see you there for shopping, fun and community!
