Teaching Local History: Diverse Stories at the Porter-Phelps-Huntington Museum invites K-12 teachers to explore local history resources and develop classroom materials from local primary sources. This week-long program offers teachers opportunities to:
-Access the diverse stories held in the Museum's object collection in Hadley, MA, the PPH family papers at SCUA, the collections of local historical societies, and local museums.
-Hear from experts in history, archives, and teaching that can support your professional development.
-Explore new scholarship on local histories of enslavement, land stewardship, gender, the Revolutionary War Era, and more.
-Be part of a learning cohort and develop classroom materials for your future use
-Connect with PPH’s broad network of educators and historians.
-Apply for implementation grants to continue developing your classroom materials after the Institute.
Lunch will be provided each day. PDP are available!
