Sierra Club Coast Group will meet as usual Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at Unity Church of Gulfport, 1700 E. Railroad St, Gulfport MS. Potluck starts at 6:30, and the general meeting will begin at 7:00. Please bring a covered dish or a beverage. Membership is not required for you to attend.
Our guest speaker this month is Stephen Deal of MS AL Sea Grant Consortium.
Stephen works with floodplain managers, building officials, city officials, scientists and Sea Grant partners to provide information and training related to flood and storm resilience. He holds a master's degree in city and regional planning from Clemson University and a bachelor's degree in history and urban studies from Furman University.
Before joining the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Legal Program in 2014, Stephen worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer for the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority. He has experience with a number of diverse public groups including regional planning agencies, city governments and heritage tourism groups.
