A superb show ft. Asheville, NC’s YAWNi w/ Lexington, KY’s Eric McM & Greenville, NC’s own The Paper Skulls [Duo] + very special late addition guest David Dondero!
YAWNi (Asheville, NC)
https://yawni.bandcamp.com
Yawni drifts out of Asheville like a fog you didn’t notice settling in. Lo-fi folk unraveling at the edges — whispered confessions buried beneath warped loops and distant echoes. The songs don’t announce themselves; they linger, haunt, and leave questions behind. It’s music that feels like it was found on a forgotten cassette in a glovebox deep in the Blue Ridge, humming with quiet menace and memory.
ERIC MCM (Lexington, KY)
https://www.instagram.com/_ericmcm_
Eric McM sounds like a voice echoing off circus tents at the end of the world. From Lexington, KY, he conjures spectral Americana with cracked gospel, sideshow flair, and a touch of vaudevillian grit — wielding guitar, harmonica, accordion, and a battered suitcase kick drum like tools of some back-alley preacher. His songs stumble and sway, flickering like candlelight in a smoke-filled room — part ritual, part riddle. Once a ringleader in the theatrical chaos of Caravan Discordia, Eric now channels his ghost-lit storytelling through a darker, dustier lens — where roadside ballads meet haunted cabaret, and every tune feels like a séance for the lost and strange.
THE PAPER SKULLS (Greenville, NC)
https://www.instagram.com/thepaperskulls
The Paper Skulls (duo set) is Lars and Nick — a Greenville, NC-based pairing spinning moody soundscapes and jagged guitar spells. Lars bends noise and melody through warped strings and distortion, while Nick weaves in eerie synths, bleeps, and bloops that feel like signals piped in from another dimension. Sometimes there’s a mask, always the mustache. No fixed lineup, no promises — just a constantly shifting set of shadows and sounds
DAVID DONDERO (Pensacola, FL)
https://www.davedondero.com
David Dondero is a roadworn storyteller with a guitar, a notebook, and a voice that carries dust from every corner of the country. A former drummer for This Bike Is a Pipe Bomb and frontman of Sunbrain, he’s been chasing songs across highways and heartaches for decades. NPR once named him “one of the best living songwriters,” and it’s no stretch — his lyrics land like postcards from places you’ve never been but somehow remember. Equal parts folk-punk preacher and restless observer. It’s been a blessing to call him a friend for the past two decades and a real honor everytime the chance arises to book him. He’ll be kicking the show off with an opening set so make sure to be on time not to miss this literal legend!
