Songwriters@Scup #38, with Story Charlemagne, Dean Driver, and Darrien Rutherford

Songwriters@Scup is a monthly songwriters round, sponsored by Mark Dillon and Doug Baker, and hosted by Scuppernong Books.

Looks like the theme this month is "Men with guitars and microphones." While that's true, all three of our performers are fine songwriters.

Story Charlemagne is a lover of storytelling through music. Soul, indie rock and folk create a unique fusion of styles. This is Story’s first time joining us.

Back for his third appearance, Dean Driver is a Greensboro-based singer-songwriter with the goal of encouraging listeners to consider new perspectives and ideas. His latest album, “For All I Know,” a genre-blending collection of thoughtful songs, is available on all the usual platforms.

Joining us for the second time, Darrien Rutherford, who performs under the name Indie Cult Classic, explains himself by saying, “I'm from Michigan and I'd rather play guitar than get a job.”
